In celebration of 50 years of "singing for singing's sake," AUCS is holding an intervarsity Easter festival.

The festival will begin on Thursday when choristers from AUCS and other university choirs from across the nation reunite at a licensed establishment to imbibe sufficient quantities of liquor to tide their spirits across the Good Friday.

On the Good Friday, choristers will officially announce their attendance at noon (or thereabouts) by attending a pleasant picnic in the park where a sizable selection of seasonably suitable snacks shall be served. Later, a Golden Age of Film night will be enjoyed by all until the late hours.

The 1950's saw the beginnings of a culture of convenience and the rise in popularity of a product which has facilitated the rehearsal of music at many university choral festivals and camps: instant coffee. Indeed, in the golden age of the 50's, those who preferred brewed coffee might have been considered old-fashioned. In this spirit, choristers at Easterfest will celebrate all things instant by performing an instant concert of a long established staple: Carmina Burana, with synthesized orchestra (or organ accompaniment), or as it may well come to be known, Carmina Instantana.

On the Sunday, choristers will celebrate Easter with an easter egg hunt followed by yet another picnic. All this hunting and picnicking will be followed by an extravagant evening of three courses, toasts and singing.

On the Monday, the adventure is far from over. A culinary expedition known as "Yum-Yum-Cha" will be an engrossing experience for all involved and will serve as the final stage of an exciting weekend of instant intervarsity celebrations.

The registration fee for Easterfest is $120. This includes food all day Friday, a formal dinner ticket, a t-shirt, the film night and scavenger hunt prizes. It is possible to pay in parts - just leave a comment at the bottom of the registration form.
